Made the bus trip once again to North Park to meet up with Chris and Jason. We had an 11:00 appointment at Twigg's Bakery for a wedding cake tasting - right up our alley. We had the opportunity to sample 15 different cakes. There are so many choices now - I don't remember that many 39 years ago.

After that we returned to the Lafayette Hotel to check out wedding venue details. The hotel is very historic. Bob Hope was its first guest back in 1946. We took a look at some of the rooms so we could see what might best fit the needs of our visitors. The pool was designed and is named after Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan). There are many bits of memorabilia and movie posters gracing the lobby and halls of the hotel. The hotel is on the National Historic Register and completely renovated in 2013. It's a wonderful wedding venue and some of the wedding guests may opt to stay here as Jason and Chris have blocked out some 17 rooms. The location of the hotel is close to Balboa Park and the world famous San Diego Zoo and in a very vibrant neighborhood.

Jason and Chris dropped us off back at our condo and we said our good-byes for now. We will see Jason at some later date during our SD stay and see Chris in March in Sacramento.
Back at the condo we read and made some hamburgers which Ron cooked on the grill in the common area. Maybe the hot tub later this evening. Tomorrow we'll begin our solo explorations of SD.
